Solar energy, radiant light and heat from the sun, has been harnessed by humans since ancient times using a range of ever-evolving technologies. Solar radiation, along with secondary solar-powered resources such as wind and wave power, hydroelectricity and biomass, account for most of the available renewable energy on earth. Only a minuscule fraction of the available solar energy is used.
Solar powered electrical generation relies on heat engines and photovoltaics. Solar energy's uses are limited only by human ingenuity. A partial list of solar applications includes space heating and cooling through solar architecture, potable water via distillation and disinfection, daylighting, solar hot water, solar cooking, and high temperature process heat for industrial purposes. To harvest the solar energy, the most common way is to use solar panels.
Solar technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute solar energy. Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors to harness the energy. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.

Solar Energy

Sun: the total Energy source

Our mother earth belongs to the family of Solar system and all the energy on Earth comes from the Sun. Every second 450to 600 million tonnes of Hydrogen atom is converted into helium. This phenomenon is known as atomic fission. The temperature at the core of the Sun is 15million degree centigrade and the temperature at the surface of the sun is 5800 degree centigrade . Part of this energy of the Sun comes to the earth by solar radiation.Every one square meter area we get 1Kilo watt energy . This Energy can be easily tapped and maid use for day to day  needs of domestic as well as industrial purpose.

Jimmy my friend

My friend Jimmy a solar specialist
welcome to my blog. Since i,am specialized in Renewable Energy I will be sharing a lot about the same.Comments are most welcome.
Here I dedicate my first blog to Jimmy who passed away on 21st of April in Indore after an accident. Jimmy was a native of Ireland but settled in India for  the last 30 years as a social worker . He was a plumber by   profession . He wanted to use solar energy for the empowerment of poor people and to check environmental destruction.   Jimmy and his wife Janak were running a training center called Barli institute, for the tribal girls in Indore
In 2010 Jimmy had received an award  from the British Govt for his social involvement in tribal women empowerment.
